15 U - Bob Gergerich

Bob is the Founder, President, Director, and Head Instructor of IHC Hockey, Inc., the International Hockey College and IHC Hockey Management. He has played professional hockey in Europe and in North America. He has also instructed and directed many schools throughout North America and Europe. He played his junior hockey in Canada and is a certified USA Hockey Master Hockey Coach. Bob is also an ISI certified hockey and skating instructor. He is the President of IHC Hockey Management, and a Professional Hockey Players Association (PHPA) certified Player Agent. Bob has placed many of his students on College, Junior, and Pro Teams. Bob was a Sports Management major in college and is a certified Nautilus instructor. He also weight trains and kick boxes, and writes many articles in hockey and fitness publications on instruction, conditioning, and exposure. Bob volunteers with the Mighty Penguin Sled Hockey Team and he is also on the Mighty Penguins Advisory Board.   He  plays Santa Claus for sick children for his wife’s home health care company and also volunteers to visit children and nursing homes with his certified therapy dogs Angel and Halo.  Bob scouts for many junior, college and pro teams and was a regional scout for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League.  He currently scouts for ISS Hockey and the North American Hockey League Central Scouting.

13 U - John Kaltenecker

John has served as a JV head coach and assistant coach over the past 4 years since graduating college. Where he priorly played for Robert Morris University's ACHA D3 team.  He also has been actively involved in youth programs with both Next Step Hockey and North Pittsburgh's In-House and ADM. John's coaching philosophy includes creating a safe and fun environment for kids and young adults to not only learn and develop skills in hockey, but to also work on their life skills.

12 U Team 1 - Jim Black 

Jim grew up on the ice in and around Pittsburgh and as a college-aged, young man opened Dek Star Dek Hockey Center in the North Hills, where he began his coaching career.  Jim has had the privilege of coaching high school hockey for the Beaver, North Hills, Pine Richland and North Allegheny school districts. As a Head Varsity Coach he led Pine Richland to become AA State Champions in 2005 and North Allegheny to AAA State Champions in 2006 and 2013. As Assistant Varsity Coach and Head JV Coach he also led Beaver High School to A State Champions in 1992. He has been coaching consistently at the high school level for the last 17 years and has been the Head Varsity Coach at North Allegheny High School since 2006.

Jim also has 15+ years of coaching experience at the amateur level with both boys and girls teams, with many of those years at NPYHA. For the last six years, Jim has been the lead instructor for all Hockey Development Programs (HDP), Little Penguins, ADM and In-House programs with the North Pittsburgh Wildcats. He was the PIHL Commissioner from 2014-15 and most recently within the Wildcats organization led the 19U Girls Tier I to a District Championship in 2016.

Jim's personal philosophy in teaching and working with kids is "to treat them all like they are your own.  Provide a safe, fun environment to learn and excel.  To always give 100% in whatever you do..." He was recently named as the General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations at Baierl Ice Complex and lives in Wexford with his wife, Kate, and their three children.
